Illustrated book cover depicting a mystery romance involving tarot cards. Of course, it’s a self initiated project, so I took my liberties and the actual romance story doesn’t exist (though I’d be really excited to read it).
Initially I wanted to create a post advertising for tarot reading services, but I decided to turn into a book cover, because I got excited about the idea of a mystery romance envolving tarot.
Firstly I made small thumbnail pencil sketches to get the composition well balanced. Then I tried drawing directly into the watercolor paper instead of drawing a the real size art and using a light table because I wanted to keep some natural and expontaneous vibe to it.
Of course, later I saturated the colors, enhanced the contrast and put the text on Photoshop.
